Mary,
Congratulations on a wonderful article and congratulations on passing your "emotional crossroads" and being able to turn down that teaching job in favor of your VO career!
The article says you've worked with New York voice acting coaches. Anyone you'd recommend? Have you work with dialect coaches as well?
There is a book called Accents by Bob Blumenfeld that I've been procrastinating about getting. Are you familiar with it?
As far as your accents and dialects, the one I really want to hear is that northern screech owl!
Hoo, HOOOOOOT! |

Hey Area Woman!
Your topic title is straight out of The Onion.
I'm glad they wrote a nice article! —although "funny voices" just doesn't seem to describe our caliber of voice talking.
heh.
Nice photo, too. |

Way to go Marge!
Hopefully I'll have some video soon to share with the board that features your "car talking" piece. |

Hey, I thought this was about accolades for MCM - LOL!
I just want you to know, I represent that/those remarks.
MCM, I am humbled in your presense, now when you get those bags of money delivered to your doorstep - grab 'em fast before someone steals them.
Toodles

Hey!... It's not a picture.
It's a tintype, also known as a ferrotype.

Thank-you so much guys. It was a pretty wonderful gift, getting that call from this reporter (he had heard me give a talk earlier in the month - LUCK!). Having somebody come into one's home and grill one about so many aspects of one's life can be very unnerving, and you don't know what they're going to do with the words they hear. The result was quite a relief.
If I had it to do over again I would emphasize the hard work that happens between receiving the script and sending the finished work to the client, and what that "30 seconds" represents.
Deirdre, you are a sharp one. The Onion is one of my favorite newspapers.
Joe, I worked with Charles Michel and love him. He is dividing his time between New York and the west coast right now, but he's giving a 3-hr seminar this Saturday 4 Nov from 12-3 at P P I Recording in Manhattan (106 W. 32nd), for $25 in honor of his 25 years of teaching. Can hardly go wrong for that price. And he's a scream. |

Local Gal Makes Good! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I particularly liked the line "As soon as you switch off the microphone, you're unemployed"; that should make a few 'where-do-I-sign-up-for-voice-talking' heads asplode. _________________ Great Voice. Great Choice. For Voice Talking and stuff.
