It is not ok to do this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5zvk4YhBCI

The video game company own the rights to use my work on the game. Someone believes that it's ok to give my work away. It isn't unless I say otherwise.

Select "More" then "Report" and select "copyright infringement"

YouTube is pretty quick to respond to these things. It looks like this "psychotic938" exists only to steal everything from the game and post it publicly.

What is the motivation for posting audio clips from a game? Doesn't make a helluva lot of sense.

My question is how this person got the outtakes to begin with.

On the flip side of it, as a promotional tool it works. I didn't realize you were this good

Yeah, this is a sticky gray area in the 21st century. The game producer probably doesn't mind the extra publicity from this "stolen" and mashed up work of theirs, especially if the kid doesn't monetize the video. And since you're not technically losing any money from this use (you've been paid in full and "bought out" yes?) there's no loss to you.

Bright side: This could make you more popular with the masses and therefore desirable for future projects.

I get people commenting on my YouTube pages all the time wanting me to do more "OmniKnight" material from a popular game I was in.

Bask in the glory I say.

Youtube will block the video immediately, until the situation is resolved. If they deem PB's case strong enough, then bye bye to said footage. If not, it'll be back soon.

Thank you Bill,

In the grand scheme of things it's not that important.

The company paid me (via my agent) for the rights to use the session in a specific video game. THE END.

No one is allowed to do anything else with the work (out of context) without my specific permission. Had I been asked and with the permission of the company I may have said "yes, no charge, it's fine".

This is a genuine breach of copyright and a case of bad manners too. Bad form.

So, was this "psychochick" or whatever the name was affiliated with the producers of the game?

I'm wondering the same thing. Two other examples: a couple of years ago, someone had posted on youtube isolated vocal tracks of the late Karen Carpenter; from several songs she and her brother (and producer) Richard had done. And, as of a few days ago, isolated vocal tracks from the Beatles' "Abbey Road" album have surfaced among the interwebs.

So much for honesty, responsibility and security, eh?
