"Community" is the word I trip over the most. The really strange thing is that I can say it with no trouble in conversation, but put a microphone in front of me and my mouth takes a powder on that word. _________________ Be well,

If you're looking for dialect guidance, Bob, some folks here say communee, making it shorter and easier to say! _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

The trick with the word "regularly" is to elide or merely indicate that 2nd "R".
Or, move to New England and leave it out entirely. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

True. And I can say it well...twice. By the third or fourth time, I start overthinking it, adding syllables, and sounding drunk. I might be exaggerating, but if I am it's not by much.

The answer to conquering hard words is something like the answer to the old joke "how do you eat an elephant?...one bite at a time".
Regularly:
Say Reg-you, Reg-you, Reg-you several times,
then lur-lee, lur-lee, lur-lee several times,
and then glue them together...Reg-you-lur-lee.
It works 98% of the time...
words like "redeemable" are in the 2%.

Thanks Bruce! That helps! Just doing that in my head makes it all work when it come out of my mouth!
Yesterday I had to say "Uncovering bureaucratic ineptitude". You wouldn't think that would be that hard...
I also recorded a spot for a lawyer trolling for Mesothelioma cases. (If you're watching cable TV in San Diego, listen for me.) "Mesothelioma is an incurable lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure. It is inevitably fatal." How cheerful.

Yesterday "hundreds" drove me nuts. I was, for reasons that escape me, swallowing the 'nd' sound. Of course trying to shoehorn 15 seconds of copy into 7 seconds didn't help, either. Oh AND hit the timing of the original with a new sentence added. ARRRRGGGHHH. |

That was me this morning! All I had to say was "Now back to the music on one-hundred-point-five." Fast. Kept saying "hunnred." Never do in real life, though. Mouth was tired, I think. I had been at the mic too long. Overbooked. I'm a greedy ho.

Man, do I hear you guys and gals on some of these.
"Particularly and F'ing "Regularly" give me quite the pain in the arse....or mouth. So much so, that I sometimes say "F it" and replace regularly with "often". |

We've had a rash of reporters in our newsroom lately who INSIST on saying "illegal" with (it seems) an accentuated EE sound to start off with:
EElegal...
I almost get ILL hearing it.
Ill-legal is how is should be said (in my little world).
