There's a local studio tha trents their studio for recording with use of their ISDN included for $50/hr. That seems like a pretty good deal to me, being that being able to offer ISDN as an option could get me more gigs. Am I right or am I off?

Considering that the cheapest an ISDN studio goes for in my area is around $200 per hour (LD not included in that rate), I'd say that's pretty darn good. The hourly rate was one of my motivators for getting my own set up.

Does the $50 include live assistance in case/when you have problems? Or a back-up recording of your session?

Yup- the whole kit 'n kaboodle (sp?). I think his logic is that he'll meet new contacts through me to help build his business.

That's a pretty smokin' deal. Take it every chance you get. I charge $75 for VO talent who are paying their own way and a lot more for everyone else.

Mary asked: "Does the $50 include live assistance in case/when you have problems? Or a back-up recording of your session?"

If it's set up right by the studio, you shouldn't have to do anything other than walk in, throw on the headphones, adjust the mic, and wait for the other studio to dial in. If the other studio gets a clean recording you shouldn't have to worry about making a copy. It's up to them to back it up.

Hell's bells-- it's $50 an hour for recordings in Mission Control here at Camp Cooper.

I second the "Smokin' Deal" description.

Joni,

What's the studio name? I'm a little down state from you here in Mystic.
I should be offering the same kind of service. Probably a little further than you'd want to drive....unless you combine it with a trip to Foxwoods or the beach.

Hey, Chuck. The studio is "Tapeworks". They're right in down town Hartford (about 10 mins from me). I would think at that rate you'd attract a lot of interest if you get the word out.

Bruce, you've hit it- they're giving me the $50 rate as a vo talent. If the client is willing to pay studio time then it's more like $150/hr.
