I SO SO SO wanted this to be the perfect centerpiece to the well equipped home voiceover studio, but it falls short in one important area (at least for some) and that's monitoring. It's low noise, well built, has a decent USB ADC built in, a mix minus, an Aux, a Recording light trigger, monitor muting circuit, two headphone outputs, it's very compact, and has transparent limiters on the outputs before the ADC.
PROBLEM for those with mixer/speakers/mic in the same room:
The monitor mute circuit does mute the speakers when the Mic is ON. HOWEVER, when you turn off the Mic the speakers kick back on. Why is this a problem? If you don't want to record the phone patch, for example, you need to leave that channel off. So how do you hear it? Press the ALT button in the monitor section to hear all channels that are OFF but potted up, and that will include the Mic, which will proceed to feedback terribly with the speakers...
Sigh... SO close, A&H, so close... now looking at digital based solutions like the Audient iD22, The SPL Crimson, the Apollo Twin, and others... _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.
