Annoying problem...

I have an M-Audio FastTrack Pro.

If I want to monitor my mic at a high enough volume, the mix nob needs to go all the way to the left.

If I want to hear my recording played back at a loud enough volume, the mix nob needs to go all the way to the right.

If the nob is centered it sends a "mix" of both monitor and play back BUT there isn't enough gain in the headphone amp to reach a desired volume for either.

So, I have to... Record. SPIN THE NOB. Listen back. SPIN THE NOB.... Record Again... SPIN THE NOB... Listen back.

Trying to find a solution so I can have a reasonable volume from both monitors and playback in my headphones without having to spin a nob.

Anyone moved on to greener pastures from the Fast Track Pro or know of an easy solution outside of just an outboard headphone amp?

Thanks,

DC

Just a weak headphone amp and a poorly designed mix control, biggest gripe about that product, personally... And that fact that one client with a Windows XP PC must unplug his when he powers on his HP laptop or it won't boot up at all. Upgrade or get a headphone amp. It's offspring the M-Audio C400 is well liked (was, I see now that it's discontinued). Scarlett 2i2, Propellerhead Balance, many other better options exist...

Thanks George!

Can anyone weigh in on their experience with any of these boxes? What are you all using that you like/dislike?

Quicksilver, why waste everyone's time regurgitating what they've already said about the products I recommended to you? It's all right here in the forum. I don't just make this stuff up!
