Yes, I participated in that thread. As a result of that exchange, I sent a Private Message to George and we exchanged a bit of information. Because of that I have changed how I determine the "signal-noise" measurement and calculation.
When people make posts about their signal-to-noise numbers, I read very carefully, and if they offer a recording I can listen to (as you did in kicking off this thread) I will see what their performance is based on the way *** I *** calculate the ratio. There are some people who are kidding themselves.
I didn't make a calculation on your recording. But I did take the longest "silent spot" I could find, and in my editor raised the gain about 60 dB so I could hear what your room noise sounds like. I like the "tone" of your room noise better that what my room produces. I'm going upstairs in the morning and have a talk with my studio. Maybe some tough talk like: "You can be replaced, you know!" |
