Well now.

There was a time...,

When people actually built things and repaired things. (before everything came stamped into a chip and became basically a little building block that you simply throw away and replace)

There was a time...when if you needed to buy solder or you needed to find a particular tube for your project...they were the only game in town.

Now....RS seems to be mostly interested in selling you an overpriced cellphone.

(sigh)

What Jason said... It's a creative way of handling the studio monitor volume control being the same as the headphone volume control (which they change on the 802VLZ3). Problem with the MHobo Tounge it passes your input signal through the headphone jack whether you want it to or not. That means you'll be monitoring through the Mackie AND the MHobo Tounge simultaneously, which could create some weird phasy shit in your headphones if you don't pot down the MHobo Tounge while tracking, which when punching in would pose a problem. You may just need to mute (un-solo) your mic when using the MHobo Tounge to avoid the problem. Solo only the MHobo Tounge when using that device and you should be fine.
Press the "PFL" button so that solo is in "Pre Fader Listen" mode, then you can leave the Main Mix fader (level knob) on the Mackie down while PnR recording and not worry about the studio monitors feeding back.

I LOVE the flexibility of the little VLZ series mixers, still my favorite studio device of all time.
