Don, the problem happens when only the power is plugged in and the headphones. Nothing else is plugged in and the pots are all the way to the left. The noise doesn't rise or fall with the headphone control. Even all the way off, it still makes the noise.

I don't know what pictures you saw of my house, but it's only 8 years old.

Mine is 21 years old, and has plenty of its own issues. (My house, not my wife)

From what you describe, the issue is probably not grounding, then....

At this point, I'd guess either a dried out capacitor in the headphone amp, or a poor solder joint in the headphone jack.

Either way, you have a noticeable hum that's likely to nag you every day you use the rig. Granted, it's not in the program bus, but.....

I'd contact the seller.

Seller has been contacted. Though from other posting here, this seems to be a common problem.

Could I just use the control room outs?

Since I have the exact same hum (I'm guessing), I popped the back off and resoldered the headphone jack. It didn't change anything. Probably an issue with the headphone amp, as Don said. For me, the hum is barely audible, and I don't even hear it when I am listening to audio. BUT, if it'll bug YOU, there is no reason to just deal with it.

The best the seller is willing to do is take the unit back and refund my money, but I have to pay the $20 to ship it back.

Net result being that I would be in the hole for $20 with no mixer to show for it. Seems easier to ignore the problem and leave negative feedback. Smile

The Ebay "feedback" process is basically a Joke...IMHO.

I love it when the seller says in their item description "as soon as you leave me positive feedback...I'll give YOU positive feedback." I mean really? When I paid by Paypal and they have the money in their account INSTANTLY?

It makes you wonder how you could possible be a better buyer.

But ...oh well.

Seller refunded me the $20 in shipping he would've paid to return the item. So $20 off a mixer and I can deal with the buzz. Not going to sling mud in feedback.

Tech question: If I get the correct adapters, can I just use my headphones with the control room outs?

To power headphones, you might consider that 20 bucks you just saved as a down payment on a decent headphone amp. There seem to be plenty of them out there. Some starting as low as $20. (I have no specific recommendations.)

Then you should get the clean in-ear audio that you so desperately need.
