I appreciate all the feedback, I really do.
the demo took a few months to complete... wrapping up a career in radio, getting new wife on board (couldn't understand why I couldn't do it myself), justifying the time and cost.. (she's an attorney, I had to have a strong argument.)
It was ripped apart by someone else in town, but I think that was because I didn't choose them to do it. I won't lie, that rattled me, especially after all the hard work that went in to it.
Regardless, I do need thicker skin. Once again... thank you thank you thank you.
I look forward to using this forum as a part of the building process, and sharing my input when the time comes. |

Absolutely a thick skin, and a brain that can handle and analyze conflicting information. All the opinions you seek will range from the very insightful to the very douche baggy. Your job, if you accept it, is try and determine which are worth taking to heart and which to ignore. Good luck!

One of the best things that ever happened to me was having my demo critiqued in a group. Like, in front of everyone. A SAG conservatory in Downtown Boston, many many years ago.
I'd been doing radio for a few years (again) and was a working stage actor— so believe me, I KNEW EVERYTHING.
The Guest Pro who was doing the critique ripped my demo to shreds. I remember the coldwater-doused feeling of dread, and then . . . elation.
When the group was over, I hit the sidewalk, reached my hands into the sky and screamed WOO HOO!!!!!
I realized I didn't know ANYTHING. YAY!! Now I had a place to start.
p.s.— the guest pro and I are now colleagues at CBS Radio. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

DD, the EXACT SAME THING happened to me, but it was in private - by the lovely Julie Williams - rather than a public lashing.
With tail firmly tucked between my legs, I retreated to lick my wounds and reassess my starting point.
Thank God for Julie's insight and kind honesty. _________________ Scott R. Pollak
