Colin, try wrapping some electrical tape or gaffer's tape around the springs...works like a charm.

I used foam pipe insulation for 1./2 pipes from a big box store to wrap my springs. I have a Q mic spring arm and love it (the owner is great and helped me replace the desk clamp as I left one at the hotel at F5) but it does ring when I get to some frequencies or loudness. Insulation did the trick.

Also be aware the boom arms are tricky in tight spaces as the articulation needs room in the back to move and adjust it appropriately.
