That's exactly what they do Jason! They isolate and de-couple the monitors from the desk or any other surface, providing a more accurate sound. "Isolated acoustics." I guess that's how they got their name! _________________ "Dammit Jim, I'm a voice actor, not an audio engineer!"

my slightly less elegant version cost a little more than i thought. schd. 40 - 16 4-way, 16 90° 10' 1/2" pipe (BARELY made it) rubber feet, 1 can flat black paint (BARELY made it).
roughly $30 for the pair, took about 30 minutes (20 for the 1st one - 10 for the 2nd) - not including the painting.

paint is dry & they are in service. i'm not sure they will be better than my previous foam solution, but they ARE higher. maybe some thick felt on the feet?

Todd!
I love it! If you can't buy it, make it! Those are very, very cool. Nice work man!
(I also think that you had a blast making those things.)
The new ToddAcoustic Monitor Stands might just catch on...

if you go this route, i recommend getting the master pvc cutter, not the residential/pedestrian, less expensive version. the former does a much much better, quicker, easier job. _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

Todd, this will add more to the cost, but you can eliminate more resonance and add a little bit of mass if you fill those using different types of sand or even better, an epoxy/sand mixture. _________________ Genus |
