No, no SSD - but 2 HD's. A 640g and a 1T. 7200rpm. It was originally built for B&H but then they decided to go with an i7 processor and this is an i5 quad core. Which is more than adequate for me. And I'm picking it up shortly. I got an email last night - a couple of hours after I ordered it, telling me it was ready. I have an a t this afternoon to go pick it up (they're about 1/2 hr from me - which is another plus) . I bring my software and they install and set everything up for me. Also bringing my dead computer because they may be able to revive it enough to see if there's anything I need from it. |

Melissa,
I use an old Macbook Pro, probably 5 years old (Core 2 Duo), to record and it works like a champ. I have it outside the booth and use the Mac bluetooth keyboard and bluetooth trackpad-thing to connect to it. I ran a long monitor cable into the booth to connect a 19" Dell monitor (that cost a whopping $100; color-correct, it's not, but who cares?) plus long USB and Firewire cables to connect to audio interfaces.
All this worked well for me as A) I already owned the laptop but didn't use it daily (had a newer one), and all the ancillary doodads didn't cost much ... probably less than $300 for monitor, keyboard, trackpad, and cables. _________________ Bob Ransom
