Manheim Steamroller was recording an album when they discovered a cricket in the studio. They used the chirp as the beat for a tune called, interestingly, "The Cricket".
You can calculate the temperature in your studio thusly: Count the number of chirps in 15 seconds and add 39 to calculate the temperature (degrees Farenheit.) If there are 30 chirps in 15 seconds, the temperature should be about 69 degrees F. This formula is said to be accurate within one degree. I don't know if there are any crickets that chirp celsius. |

Banksey and SpaceGypsy own those.
If the cricket doesn't chirp, does it mean the termperature is zero, plus 39 degrees Farenheit (39 degrees)? Or that the cricket is dead?

If you don't have a cricket, look at a thermometer and reverse the preceeding calculation to derive the number of chirps it would have chirped.
Why I didn't think of this for my grade school science project instead of doing that lame solar system out of styrofoam balls will be a regret I shall carry to the grave. |
