Here's the top of the hill up the road from my house. I love this view and drive by as often as I can.

I love this time of year!

Fall looks like the inside of my frikkin' studio, and not much else. I'm not doing four audiobooks on a tight schedule like this ever again. Done on Monday so maybe Tuesday I can see the outside world again.

Fall's pretty much done for here already - nothing left but shushing through the leaves. And maybe eventually raking.

Here's a shot from about a week ago at the prettier of the two dog parks near my place.

Philip - every time you post a picture of you and the dogs cavorting in a field, or one like you've just posted showing of the beauty of rural Scotland, I get just a tiny bit jealous ... you live in a wondrous part of the world.

That coastline is a thing of beauty to behold.

I learned an interesting fact from a geologist last week; the mountains in Scotland are geologically part of the same chain that forms the Appalachians in the eastern U.S. They're all part of what's called the Caledonian Orogeny (you can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caledonian_orogeny).

So, in some sense, the coastlines and mountains I saw on the last two weeks' visit to New England and the Maritimes up to Quebec City are somewhat related to Philip's gorgeous coastline; the relationship is very ancient and the rocks tell the tale.

What made me think of it? Well, I saw a similar scene along the coast of Cape Breton... although it was a bit more cloudy.

This old world is amazing.

And yet, the people who named it Nova Scotia -- (i.e. "New Scotland") had no idea this was the case.

I have been to many countries in Europe, including living 6 years in Sweden; but I never made it to Scotland. Clearly, I've missed out....
