Sure. To me producing is half the fun, but I'm no Dave Foxx. Take this liner for example.
Here's the screen shot of what it looks like, the blue stuff is my voice, the red stuff is other voices, green is sfx and yellow is music beds:
Each track has it's own bit of compression, or eq, or reverb, or echo or combination of them.
The final mix gets "mastered" with its own bit of compression or limiting.
So much like Banksey's original thread started, for this piece, I recorded my voice with somewhere around a 3:1 compression in the rack before it got to the computer. Then it got compressed again on each of its tracks (with a range depending on the effect)... and then it gets compressed again in the mastering process.
P.S. Let me add I still can't believe I get paid to do this. Having this much fun and earning money doing it is somehow very surreal to me. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog
