Voice123 has been very good to me, but I'm considering branching out & joining more sites such as:

Voice Registry
Voice Hunter
Voiceover Directory

Does anyone have experiences to share with any of those services? Are all these sites basically the same?

Voice Hunter can catapult your career into the stratosphere if you're ready.
The biggest problem I am aware of is that the high-visibility pages are sold out until 2025 or something.

Do you think it's worth signing up at one of the lower levels, though? I hate to just throw $250 into the wind...

I am looking at Voiceover Directory and Stars & Sites. Both have a free membership level. The question is: how do you know if a VO web service can get you work? You don't. That is the quandry! This is why I'm reluctant to join any new sites unless I have some genuine testimonials.

It's 250 to get your name on the roster for a year, yes?
It seems to me that they actually LISTEN to the demos people submit-- hence the STARTER business.

Here's what I think-- It's like advertising in The New Yorker.
You're in with some of the top dogs, so your demo had better kick some serious ass. You get, if anything, the trickle-down from guys who came to hear the Big Guns but can't afford 'em.

Ups to YOU whether you can afford THAT.

For the record, the aptly-named Adam Goodman is a Real Good Guy. A mensch, a brick.

I think Stars 'n Sites may be a dead issue. I get an inquiry every now and then from my listing there. Potential clients always complain that they can't access demos as the link is broken. I've tried to reach their support on numerous occations with no luck. No place on the page to update profiles
either.

Did you try "Voice Models"? One of my best long-term accounts came thru that site.

You're the sceond person I know to have problems with Stars & Sites. Strike two! I'm waiting to hear back from another VO colleague who's a member . I'll check out Voice Models, too.

Wouldn't it be great if we had some kind of sticky thread in each of the VO-BB categories that had a list of recommendations/testimonials for VO products & services? I don't know if that would be appropriate, but it sure would be nice to go to "Gear" and find a troubleshooting checklist or go to "Work" and see a list of higly praised clients & agents. And keep it positive, of course...

Just adding to your list. Just got a mass email from Rick Gordon at Commercial Voices which reminded me of them. I know several members here are listed with them too.

Howdy Hart!!
Thanks again for the SFX over the weekend, it's was a LIFESAVER(well,OK Demo Saver), anywho-
I also recieved a mass e-mail from them. I think they ARE legit, I just can't spring for $200 right now. Tommorrow, mabe different!!!

Also Deebs,
I like your new avitar, makes me think of the "Katherine" character(I think Marg Helgenberg) on the original CSI; dressing and acting like a " Lady of the evening." Where did you find that aviatar?

Holler at you guys and gals later,

Don

Yeah, Commercial Voices is legit. Rick Gordon pops in here at the VO-BB sometimes. I had several back and forth emails with him a while back. Nice guy.
If/When I decide to join another site it's on my list.

Rick is a fine guy - and I did a rather large project that came through Commercial Voices.

Don't expect a ton of auditions like V123 and voices.com - CV doesn't work the same way.

There are two ways one would benefit from his site - general traffic to your site through his site and auditions through his Producers portal - where he is directly involved in the process and does the work of a real casting director.

Which, oddly enough I suppose, is what appeals to me about CV.

The "meat market" versions of voice sites have done nothing for me. Or more accurately I've been unable to do anything with them. I've been doing better from making direct contact with potential clients... and in one recent case from someone who wandered across my website.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for the kind comments about CV. Not being in the category as the Wal-Mart of Voiceovers we do try and do things a little differently. In a nutshell "CV promotes YOUR personal VO website". The Casting Calls should be considered a bonus since it is usually feast or famine in this category.

I had better not ramble on to much with a sales pitch. DB has a sword now and a plethora or nasty pirates. I would hate to stir up her swash-buckling attributes Kiss

All the Best,
Rick Gordon
