|
|
So I want to add a corner shelf piece in my booth -- something like this:
http://www.target.com/s/corner+shelves
Currently I just pin the copy to the wall, but that's because 90% of what I do is commercial/short-form, so one piece of paper pinned to the wall will suffice. However I just booked a HEE-UGE job, for which I'll need to prop up an actual script, and turn pages, and stuff.
So the shelf is a start... but what else do I need to get to actually prop up the pages (I'm blanking on how to even search for such a thing...)? Something like a music stand top... And somewhere I got the notion that a metal stand of some sort would be cool, because I could keep the pages in place with a magnet... but I can't figure out how to put the top of a metal music stand on a corner shelf.
I'm either over- or under-thinking this, I'm not sure which.

They used to sell these things that typists used to prop up stuff when they were typing stuff into computers -- they look like copier paper holders with legs. Might check the office supply store for such a thing?
I use a music stand with a felt surface (or a towel).

My idea is, instead of keeping the pages together and turning them like a book, take the script apart and treat it like a pile of individual pages -- read one, turn it over (or throw it on the floor), read the next one, etc. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

A nice quality music stand works well - you can adjust the angle - I cover mine with a towel so there isn't noise reflection from the metal - and I am not sure why a magnet is necessary - do you have a lot of wind in your studio? _________________ Playing for a living...

It's on the desk next to the mixer and monitor. Not a ton of room, so it's fairly upright. The magnet keeps the copy from peeling away like a calendar in a movie. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I knew you guys would come through! 'Typing stand' -- that's the descriptor I was looking for, or at least, it will get me pointed in the right direction...
And Connie -- I was thinking the magnet would help the pages stand upright, instead of scootching to the bottom of the stand... _________________ Always look on the bright side of life.

I know it's not what you're looking for but I finally caved and bought an iPad. Just narrated a 50 page script by propping it up on a music stand silently scrolling through the pages. No shuffling. No page turns. One of the best things ever. |

I didn't have to mark this script but I know there are a s that let you do so. I have to look into them. |

I am using an iPad for a long project - works fine except for the times it seems to do things on its own.
Music stand for paper and shorter projects and auditions.
I have an old shirt over it to avoid reflected noise.

And it's a good thing you're "vivo" after San Fermin.
Do any running in recent years? |

... and I just use an external monitor to do the same thing.

So do I, but since it's in word, I electronically mark it up with bolds, italics, highlights, etc. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

Here's my favorite copy stand/business card:
(Granted, I'm a wee bit biased.)
Though to be honest, the iPad gets more use these days.
