The problem with telcos in the US and the UK is MBAs who when put together cause senior/middle management block par excellence. |

Don't get me started on MBAs! What we need are more people that can actually do stuff... not just tell people to do stuff. Grrrr.
Anyhoo... did I actually think things would improve? Am I actually that naive? The box arrived today... and of course it didn't work. The LCD display was somewhat incomplete with the top half of the top row left to my imagination. The good thing is that the seller is as upset about this as I am and has offered a refund... or (which I doing)... I send it to Musicam on his dime and he pays for the repair (if repair is feasible). So, I'm thinking that a unit straight out of Musicam service is a better bet than playing ebay roulette again... even if it takes a little longer.
It gives me a little longer to sort out my $%^&# long distance now! _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Possible warning: Musicam may not be able to fix it. They've stopped stocking any replacement parts for older models such as my 8 year old Prima LT. They told me they can fix it IF they still have the parts, otherwise.... Thank goodness mine still works like a charm. Oh, and yes, I've turned my monitor away from the Prima so it can't read what I'm saying and get jinxed.
Thank goodness your seller seems willing to make amends.
I'm afraid this planned obsolescence thing really ticks me off some days.

Both the seller and myself have spoken to Martin at Musicam... he was pretty straight... "if it's a faulty cable or display module, we can do it... if it's the mother-board, it's toast." (I paraphrased). Now, the way the fault presents itself, I suspect it's the display module itself... but that may be wishful thinking. I got the unit to FedEx last night, and it's arrived at Musicam already (just a quick NY/NJ trip).
I feel like a patient waiting for test results... _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

So, it was the display module. Musicam fixed it, the seller paid for the fix and all the extra shipping costs, it arrived today, and I now have it bolted in my rack
I've configured it as best I can and it seems to be dialing out OK (after I remembered to add the 0101 at the end of the SPIDS!). It loop tests OK and the next thing is to try an end-to-end test over the weekend. It's been fun trying to work out the best configuration and connections using the Mackie 1202... but I think I've got it set the way I want it now.
Just waiting on the long-distance stuff now. It's set-up with a PIC of 0333 for Sprint and I'm using Telechoice (a Sprint reseller)... they were the only ones who answered the phone and knew what I was talking about! No monthly service fee as such, just a $15 per month minimum spend.
Almost there....
Oh, and the seller runs a production house and may have a need for a Brit voice... funny how things happen sometimes _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Just to put the tin hat on this one... All installed and working just fine. Thanks to Liz & Kelley for doing the connectivity testing, and to Melissa for helping me through the process with contacts & support.
Philip... I think I've got the Prima settings nailed... I sent you a PM.
When I say "nailed", I still can't work out how to make the Prima chirp like a Zephyr (or make any sound come to that) when connecting an incoming call. It just silently connects. Spooky. I'm going through the command tree, but I just can't find the setting... _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

To the best of my knowledge, it doesn't make any sounds. Yes, if there was one other selling point for the Zephyr, it's that love "Chirp, Chirp" sound it makes. OR, as I call it, "Ching, Ching!" _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.
