The best solution is clearly to turn your preamp down to about +5 gain and then scream into the microphone. Then you won't get any noise at all. Great for PSAs, children's audiobooks, and medical narrations.

BTW I looked at a (logarithmic) Frequency Analysis of a few seconds of silence in the Soundcloud file you posted:
I can't figure out how to post screen shots here, but anyway, there is a big spike at 60Hz, and smaller ones at around 120, 180 and 240- all multiples of 60.
So you may have a 60 cycle hum. Which might be addressed to get your noise floor even lower.
Was just playing around with Notch Filtering in Audacity this weekend as well- lots of fun with math.[/img] |

My noise floor dropped from -56dB to around -63dB, which I'm thrilled about, but I'm now curious if that 60Hz hum is still showing. If so, I'd bet my PC is to blame. _________________ John LaPiana

The posted RE320-ISA file doesn't have that Download button enabled.
But if you want to see what I was looking at, and since you already were able to use the Frequency Analysis in Audacity, open that, and as George suggested, switch "Axis": from Linear frequency to Log frequency.
Also, increase the "Size"- probably to around 4096 or 8192. Run the cursor along the graph to see where the peaks are.
Besides the hardware, also check the placement of the cables.
