I'm pretty sure there won't be a LOT of results if one searches under that heading, as I did. Found all kinds of math problems to pursue with regards to rates, but check this out, and WWYouD?
Producer called about a project he says likely will be 2 days' worth of recording (don't know what his day entails re: number of hours) for a court stenographer training course. He said "it's painful to listen to and painful to do" and I believe he meant for both voice talent and editor. Here's why: the segements to which he refers are for rank beginners, newbies, aspiring court stenographers. They'll listen to various words and phrases as exercises to hone transcribing skills. You can imagine at this point what might be the word count per minute. He says in the past the exercises have varied from 60 wpm to 220 wpm, but in this particular case, it's 15-20 words per minute. He anticipates a total of 350 files varying from 1:30 to 6:00. Would I were the one to voice the exercises, which are being completely re-recorded, I would listen to the audio in headphones and repeat into mic.
How might you tally a bid for the project?
Thanks. _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

Best deal for the client would be a daily rate of $750- $1,000 and a day is as long as a day is .... |

And on the flip side...you could go with $150 per hour which might seem more digestible to you and the client...course the bottom line is nearly the same. Go for it! _________________ . If at first you don't succeed, then bomb disposal probably isn't for you. |

I'd be tempted to call a "day" four booth hours. It's exhausting to do that kind of work and, if you're anything like me, you'll start to see your error factor jump steeply after hour #4.

I'd go with the hourly rate idea...your hours behind the mic and on the mouse. It's fair to both of you.
