The new wire was a big help and it eliminated the high-pitched hum, but it didn't solve the problem entirely. The problem is that I don't have a preamp. I will get one tomorrow. Any suggestions? _________________ Tom Dheere - The "H" is Silent, but I'm Not!

(and so the floodgates open)
What's your budget like Tom...and do you need anything other than just a straight up pre? If it's just a preamp you're after and you don't want to spend a ton o' dough I'd recommend the Grace 101. Super clean, super simple. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

If you REALLY don't want to spend a ton o' dough, get the dbx 286.
And yeah, floodgateville.
Do some research before you just do out and buy a pre. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Exactly my thought. Keep those data cables well away from your audio cables. _________________ Colin Day - UK Voiceover

+1 the dbx286.... Tried and true. Also comb ebay for a Focusrite Vocalmaster Pro.... Low noise and extremely versatile. Love mine.
Now if you want to spend the mortgage on gear, I'm sure there are plenty here who would recommend such excellent toys as the Grace or Avalon..... or.....
And they'd be right, too.
Really comes down to what you can afford and what you're willing to spend. But you don't have to spend the farm to get acceptable quality that will do the job. _________________ Don Brookshire
