Some here already know I am no fan of P2P sites and waste no money on them. I created a casting persona and I get occasional email from them soliciting jobs. I did this because I wanted to see what the other side of the glass sees from P2P sites.

Yesterday I got an offer for a business account at a mere $20 per month (actually $19.95). It supposedly offers benefits like instant job approvals and ability to download demos, yadayada.

I wondered how long it would take the P2P's to start making money on both ends. I really hope something better comes along soon to replace P2P's. So, bunky, you still want to pay for the opportunity to audition with the masses?? Not me.

They're just trying to make a living the best way they can and whilst I do not like what the P2P sites do, I understand.

For us, what seems the easy way to work and auditions does not serve a long term career.

I could invent the perfect system to serve both clients and voices. Would everyone win? No. 95% of Voices would still earn nothing. Under demand and Over Supply will remain the curse of our business.

Indeed. It's also known as the reality of our business (and scores of other businesses.) Accept that fact and move on, I say.

The P2P business model works exceedingly well for the people it's designed to work well for. Its owners.

OK, so they'll be charging "seekers" now as well?
Well...that's not such a bad thing.
Those that are looking for a cheap VO will probably NOT sign up, which means that (hopefully) better quality (hopefully) seekers with bigger budgets (hopefully) will remain.
OR..even better
They'll start seeking us out directly.
(On page 1 of Google - Thank you! Laugh )

As I have said before, I have no no problem with the P2P's.
Some of my best REPEAT clients have started there, but this looks like a good thing (hopefully). Smile
