Postcards and emails are my fav. I send out a monthly newsletter with what I've been up to (which gets quite a response), and a postcard every 4-6 months.

They have both generated phone calls, roster additions, or just a funny email that lets me know they're "listening."

Last October, I contacted an agent that an actor friend recommended. He told me to tell her he sent me. I called her. She setup an appointment 2 days later. I met with her, sat in her office for 90 minutes yakking about stuff. She even listened to a demo audition from a prospective V.O. Then, she asked me to critique it. She hadn't even listened to my demo yet. Then, it happened. She loaded my CD demo and hit "Play". After exactly 18 seconds and a few quick scan-throughs, she turned to me and said, "Oh yes - you're in!"

She plopped a contract down in front me, told me to take it with me, read it and call her with any concessions. That's exactly what I did. The following week, she called and setup a telephone audition with a client in Phoenix (100 miles from where I am) because of time constraints. The client said she loved it, the agent told me the client was very happy with her selection - then, BOOM! They decided ultimately to return to their legacy voice after all. Okay - no harm done. I get that.

Then, the agent told me she wanted a stack (about 20) more of my CD Demos. I burned them, labeled them and hand-delivered them. She wasn't in. I have called numberous times since then and all calls remained unanswered. I haven't spoken to nor seen her since December of last year.

However.... she still has my demos and, eternal optimist that I am, I'm convinced I'll hear from her one day soon with the right gig.

And, oh yeah... the blank contract (repleat with my hand-scribbled concessions) still resides right here on my desk.

I'll let you know when there's an update to report.

Also - my apologies for not being very active here for the past several weeks. I've been busy, working 7 days a week for more than 2 months. And, I'm just flat tired.

But, I stop in every day and read all the posts. I just had to take the time to respond to this thread.

I'm not a stranger - just very, very busy. And lately, little of it has to do with voiceover.
