Hello all;
I'm new to this board, but not to doing voice-overs, just wondering if many of you do your own websites or did you hire some one..I'm doing a website (and name) change, and happened across this british company called moonfruit..
has anyone had any dealings with them?...I gotta say their stuff looks pretty good for do-it-yourself... |

Not familiar with moonfruit, but I did my own site. I can't say enough for WordPress and some customizations; you can do amazing things with it. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

The VO-BB's own Lou Zucaro did mine, and I get comments for it being nice and clean and for its simplicity. _________________ We have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Scott: agreed. I like your site quite a lot. My wife and I used to be professional web designers in the late '90's/early 2000's. My wife recently re-did mine using Wix.
I would not suggest anyone doing their own site unless they're a trained graphic artist. You need to know about correct color combinations, fonts and font sizes, optimizing photos, SEO, etc. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

I did everything on my site except for the logo design. It could still use some work, but I'm mostly happy with it. _________________ Justin S. Barrett

Moonfruit is fine but you really do need to get someone to design YOUR website (see above linky) as opposed to use a design to get a website for you. |

I agree with Corey - WordPress is pretty versatile, plus you have stacks of templates to use as a starting block for designs.
Having a clear idea of the style I wanted, I had a crack at building my own site with WordPress. I decided that if it was a giant fail I would hire someone to do it, but aside from a few things that I have to tweak (but need to figure out the particular functions in WordPress first) I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.
I looked at MoonFruit, but in the end I personally wasn't too keen on everything that they had on offer.
By the way, if you're still exploring hosting and all that stuff - I'd like to throw in a quick recommendation for Michael Minetree at Artist Web Hosting. He's a total champ.
Edit: Just realised that you probably get hosting anyway with MoonFruit _________________ www.mattcowlrick.com |

I wonder if Ted Williams designs websites. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Yep, he does. They smell of urine and vomit and always let you down when you need them most. |

I used an Apple template on my site, but if you can afford a custom design with someone who knows their stuff...
In my opinion, it's all about the branding and the graphic art that supports that branding, however, I have not evolved that far quite yet.
Wordpress is also impressive for basic stuff. _________________ jonahcummings |
