Hey guys,
I don't know how many of you are familiar with cracked.com, but if not, you should be. It is one of the top comedy websites right now, up there with The Onion and the like, mostly focusing on list-style articles. Anyhoo, an editor there has asked me to pitch some ideas, and I'd love to do one focused on voice actors. I'm open to suggestions, but was thinking of of going with like '6 Reasons Voice Actors are Underappreciated'
A couple points I thought to be expanded on would be the famous 'people say I have a good voice' and perhaps one about how amazing voice actors get pushed aside for big names.
I'd love to get your ideas, and any examples you might have to offer for them. If there is enough material, (I don't think that will be a problem) I'll pitch it. Let the venting begin! |

ooo, I'll start. Here's a couple of thoughts.
* They put in hours of work so you can hear seconds of audio.
* Everyone else thinks they can do it. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

This could make some feel under appreciated.
Over heard at a local Starbucks...
"Why should I pay $22 for an audio book, when I could buy the same book for $14 and read it whenever I want?"

Number one reason: it's just talking. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

It's not really acting, it's playing.
Well, duh!

Because they get funny looks when people ask what they do for a living, and they reply, "I do voices."
Because no one wants to watch them work in their underwear.
Because they sometimes don't know when to shut up.
Because they have a face for radio.
Because you can't tell much difference between voice actors and crazy people on the streets who walk around talking to themselves.
Because Catholic priests keep following them around, wanting to perform exorcisms on them.
Because they not only hear voices in their head, but listen to them. And have open conversations with them. In public.
Because if you pitch this and Cracked tells you to run with it, and you get paid for the article, I demand a percentage for my contributions. And one-time buyouts in perpetuity are not acceptable. I get paid-per-click. For the rest of your life. _________________ Publisher: Voice Actors in the News
