All you need to do is add a Firewire Card to your computer.

And for you Laptop users you can get an Firewire adapter for it too.

That Konnekt6 is nifty, but explain exactly how you would patch a phone hybrid to this thing? I see the 2nd input, but what about an output bus?
Plus it relies on a software control panel to do everything, which adds difficulty to the user learning and operating curve. And sadly Firewire does narrow down the field of computers it can be used with.

Good find, though, it's pretty cool and might recommend this over other units, such as M-Audio or Presonus products.

Hi George. On the rare occasions I use a JK Audio phone patch, I use the headphone jack or one of the monitor outputs to feed it.

Once it's set up, you never have to open the software panel, all the controls are on the box.

I've always ordered my Dell computers with firewire. It's also on most Sony VAIO laptops. Musician recordists seem to prefer firewire because it can handle more audio, more efficiently.

Firewire should be a standard on every computer.

It is faster and more efficient means of handling data.

Firewire SHOULD be standard, but it isn't always. I do agree the Firewire is the preferable for an audio interface, though. I am debating the need to include this function in the unit, but there is a major lack of good A/D/A units out there that don't include unwanted mic preamps. The only one I've found so far is the Echo AudioFire2.
@Bill- Yes, that would be the only way to do it. A workaround I want to avoid, hence a unit built just for this task. And the hybrid built in, too.

I love the discussion this has triggered and I am filing all of this for my R&D purposes!

...an extra headphone jack or two, so that more than one party can hear when recording simple doubles or interviews.
