As a test, upload a different MP3 altogether. Download someone else's from voices.com and try to upload it. See if it works. if it works, it's something specific in your file. If it doesn't, then it's your specific computer environment (browser, network, yadda yadda). _________________ Jeff

Jacob: What about removing the underscores in the filename? Or test uploading a file with a very simple name like "demo"? |

If this problem cropped up over the weekend, the reason that you haven't gotten any help from Voices.com could be something as simple as there was nobody manning the help desk on Saturday or Sunday. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

That was a very good idea, actually! So I snatched someone's demo (I made sure the filename was similar to mine, with underscores, mix of upper/lower characters etc), used IE8 to upload it to my own profile, and guess what:
"The filetype you are attempting to upload is not allowed"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WTF???!!!
Why is it that VoicesBUGcom seems like the only web page on the internet that won't accept files from my computer??!! I uploaded the same god damned files to my V123 profile last week without any problems. V123, for crying out loud!! _________________ Regards,

That is interesting. I'd suggest two things next:
1) try it from a different computer. If you can isolate the issue as being system-specific, then there's something going on with that machine's configuration.
2) If it happens even from another system, then there's something either with your network (not terribly likely, but possible) or at the voices.com end, maybe something as simple as the storage space associated with your account is on a bad hard drive or something.
You could try taking a trace of the process by using Fiddler. (fiddlertool.com). It would track all the interactions between your browser and the server, which could give you some insight. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

I uploaded a new demo last night to voices and had no problems.
This won't solve your current problem, but I thought I'd throw this idea out about file names. I have a folder called "Web Demos" and copy my current demos to that folder. In that folder I have simple file names like, "weeks_imaging", "weeks_web", etc. (very short file names). I helps me to keep the demos organized for uploads and the file names short.
Just an idea. _________________ John Weeks Voice Overs

PARTIAL SUCCES! I managed to upload the new demos by using a different computer (on the same network). YAY!
However, this makes me confident the problem is related to security issues on my primary computer. Maybe one day I'll fiddle with it to find out what's going on... but not today.
Thank you VERY much guys, you've all been extremely helpful, contrary to Voices support. (Lee, my correspondance with them was last week, so I'm not being unreasonable - we have weekends in Scandinavia too, you know ) _________________ Regards,

I had this same problem a week or so back when I was trying to post an audition. Turns out is was my browser. I was using Firefox on my Mac, which had previously not been a problem, but suddenly had become one. I tried it on Chrome and it worked fine. _________________ Justin S. Barrett

In the end though, it just shouldn't be this hard. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I agree DB. Things have gotten unnecessarily complicated in our world. _________________ Gregory Best

THANK YOU!!!! My thoughts exactly!!
Voices support did get back to me, elaborating on the Firefox-issue that seems to be a common problem. I didn't have Firefox installed on the other PC anyway, so... I have to asume it's something in my security settings or whatever. Maybe my Avast. Just for the fun of it I should try and sisable it next time. _________________ Regards,

Ask Voices to unplug their server for five minutes.
...standard advice when I worked (briefly) in tech support.
