I've been playing with my new Roku now for a couple of weeks and I have to say I've never watched more TV than I have recently.

Anyway, there are new channels added just about every day - I just found http://AeroCinema.com/ You don't need a Roku to view it, but it sure is nice to these great docs on your TV.

Many years ago when they introduced digital cable TV receivers, they said they would eventually have the capacity to provide up to 500 channels of programming. I said right then that the entertainment business would work hard to provide all those channels and boy was I right. Now with the Internets Tubes in play the sky's the limit. Thank goodness for those of us in the VO biz.

Hey Anthony, I've been thinking about getting Roku. Can you watch local TV with it too? With Roku and Netflix and Hulu you can get almost everything you need much cheaper than cable or satellite.

Amen, Bruce. The opportunities for voice-over artists increase as entertainment and media grow. Of course, there's the flip side - "Class A" no longer carries the weight it did. I get more from the cable runs than Class A of my commercials.

Eddie, you can't watch live local TV with the Roku. With that said, there may be some private channels (Roku channels are like Youtube channels or iPhone a Hobo Tounge

s) that stream local content. The Roku requires a shift in the way you think about consuming entertainment on TV. Think of it as OnDemand on steroids. We cut our cable services down to just local network channels (our bill - which includes phone and internet - went from about $205/month to about $92/month.) HuluPlus costs us $7.99/mo and Netflix (unlimited streaming) costs us another $7.99. Then we have Amazon Video OnDemand where we can rent or buy movies and TV episodes. All of this, via the Roku on our TV (our Roku can do up to 1080p, but most content right now is only available up to 720p.) I can talk about the Roku for hours (as if I work for them,) so I'll stop now.

EDIT: If you need live TV, you can always view it online via FilmOn.com, IVI.tv, or another service. The toughest part for me is doing without Sportscenter (but I have NBA LeaguePass Broadband for my NBA games.) I'll be doing a review of the box some time this week, because so many people have asked me about it and expressed interest in the little box.

Thanks Anthony, I thought about some of the other streaming channels on the net. My viewing habits have been skewed since the early 80s when I worked in Home Video distribution. ☺ Watch What You Want, When You Want. That's been the slogan for years. Roku is a great distribution vehicle. I love the direction and I'm certainly changing my viewing with internet content availability.

Content is King and always has been.

Eddie, I agree. It doesn't bode well for those talent that have been used to doing well with national network spots, but, as Bruce mentioned, it does open it up to so many other avenues of work. If you decide to get the Roku, feel free to hit me up if you need help with it - I love this thing!
