I got ISDN installed two months ago. I've used it several times, but it's certainly not paid for itself yet.

Oddly though, since I've advertised having it in my studio, I've been consistently booking better paid jobs from "bigger" clients. For me me at least, just having it seems to attract work, even if I'm not using it on a daily basis.

Helen, it could actually be that advertising the fact that you have ISDN gives you more credibility, and therefore clients are willing to pay you more. Sort of a "halo effect."

It took me a few months but then I got a gig that paid for the equipment more than twice over - through an agent I may not have gotten had I not had ISDN.

Congratulations, Melissa! That's EXACTLY what I expect will happen when I'm up and running.

Speaking of which, Pam Tierny was kind enough to allow me to try out the Telos Zephyr I purchased on eBay at her ISDN-equipped studio. Good thing too - we had Dave Immer on the line for a test run and discovered that the unit was defective. I'm returning it to the seller for a refund. (I've already purchased the Musicam Prima LT that I should have gotten in the first place, mostly because the seller has actual experience selling ISDN boxes).
