The Actor's Nightmare 2.0

He's mainly talking about the biz of motion capture, but I think his distress (if you want to call it that) is with the idea of actors as "assets" not "creators".

My response:
Quote:
I must take the other side of the argument, my friend— since I am here in LA for the express purpose of acting for video games!
I view the work in mo-cap suits as being like a modern Bunraku puppeteer. And our voices are the rocket fuel of the performance, so the character may not look like us, but it is the breath of our spirit that gives him “life” on the screen.
Acting is illusion— same as it ever was, thank the gods and stars.

Yes you are absolutely correct DB, it is indeed puppetry/pantomime. It's also lazy animation. Motion capture is the Rotoscope of digital animation.

Great! But I should've stopped before I read the dingbat comment claiming that video games cause violence. <sigh>

I've been biting my tongue with other comments, like the one paragraph that starts with "With most gamers finding an easy escapism in gaming, they are not challenged in life to do something with their minds and bodies and create for themselves."

Honestly, I want to do something really creative when I read shit like this.
What does he know about "most gamers"?

And is that "Lance Blair" OUR "Lance Blair"?

Violent games keep me from going postal during the day.

It's the problem-solving elements in games that firms up the ol' grey matter.
