i am now online with my win7/snow leopard hackintosh - here's the important hardware:
mb asrock P55 pro rt motherboard
intel core I5 750 2.66G R cpu
pny Geforce GT 240 1gb graphics card
((i had a different nvidia graphics card at first - but mac install wouldn't see it))
i have a mac hard drive and a pc hard drive in the box and can boot to either one from the start-up screen.
so far --- so good. snow leopard (10.6.whatever the newest number is) sees my machine as a mac pro. cs5, ilife & iwork '09 and final cut studio 3 are all running without a hitch!
i didn't build it myself - a friend did - but it only took an afternoon and cost me less that $600 in parts. (new mobo, cpu, graphics card & hard drive)
since i can run windows (and therefore adobe audition) on the mac - i haven't figured a reason to boot into windows - but it's there if i do!
i just thought i'd pass this along because i was looking at spending $2,000 - $2,700 to buy a new mac pro for video editing before letting my friend give this a try. so far everything has worked.

yep - i realize - no support. you rolls the dice and you takes your chances - BUT --- (a) i have a disc image to fall back on (b) backup, backup, backup and  since everything is intel now anyway - once osx is loaded there is absolutely no difference minus the expensive shiny case. i promise, i'll let you know if it implodes.

i don't use linux - but the guy who helped me runs all three ... on a $600 laptop.
