VO-BB - 20 YEARS OLD!

I wanted to let you all know that I've purchased a new vocal booth from Vocalbooth.com http://www.vocalbooth.com/products/goldseries.html



The company is located in Bend, OR and so over the Christmas holiday my husband & I drove over there to check them out (nice drive through the mountains, luckily no snow that day). We thought the 4x4 Gold would work, although it had to be custom to accomodate the small ceiling in the basement.



I ordered it mid-March, it arrived last Friday, and I'm very pleased with the sound reduction. As a test I had my teenaged son play loud, obnoxious music in the next room while I recorded, and nothing showed up on my tracks. The guys from the company were great to work with, and the booth arrived when they said it would. I'm not comfortable posting the exact price, but it was between $2500-$3500.



It's a tight fit, but there's room for a small table & chair, a mic stand with a 7 3/4 inch boom and a music stand. I have headphones, a small keyboard and mouse inside the booth, the CPU and monitor are outside on a desk with another keyboard & mouse for editing. The monitor is on a stand that can be rotated so I can see it from inside the booth (it has a window). I've been setting up ProTools to record before I go into the booth, and then start the recording when I get in there. Works like a charm.



I now have my own little "cone of silence", and the difference in my recordings is remarkable. They sound much more "present", not diffused (which makes sense), and the background noise is gone. I'm a happy camper.

Congrats! I'm getting ready to sell mine (an older 6x6 Silver Series) for something in the 4x5 range without windows. My wife likes to walk in and scare the hell out of me ... retake! Plus, I don't want to know if it's day or night at this point!!

Hello!
I m planning to buy a vocal booth gold series 4 x 6.

I read several posts about this products saying that it was not working as on isolation booth, that the sound was crap inside and that it was not sturdy...

Are any of these statements true?

I would like to use this booth to rehearse my vocals and record vocals. Furthermore I would like to be able to move my home studio inside the booth so I can mix whenever i want without bothering my neighbours.

Do you think that will do?

Congrats!!! A vocal booth is on my short list of "gotta get me one of those".

I've found the the Silver and Gold series Vocalbooth.com booths are just not really up to snuff in the isolation department. I've assembled many Whisper Rooms and find their fit and finish and sound much more impressive.
Plus you can add an "enhanced" layer of interior walls to the Whisper Room is the standard booth doesn't give you enough isolation.

Agree. I bought a secondhand Gold and the accoustics were terrible and I've been in more isolated car parks. It served its purpose because it gave the carpenter I hired to modify my "Wee huttie" and repair a structural problem we had with the house a lot of materials to re-cycle when he came to give it a service and oil change.

Don't buy ready made, build your own (with help) and build it with your ears not your eyes.
