Thou hast been coach-ed and train-ed by the best in the world as so dubbed by the interweb. Canst thou walk with thy head held high 'mongst us mere mortals.

In which case the job I have in mind is a no-brainer, a walk in the park, easy-peasy-lemon-squeezie.

The remainder of the team have no such profile, they're friends, but I know what they're able to do.

Guess who sucked? So bad was the session I literally felt my heart sink and that is not an exaggeration.

Looking on the bright side, my choice of picking talent as opposed to trusting an interweb's opinion was right on the money.

Who IS an awesome talent? Don't trust me or an internet, the hysteria of others or the reputation of those who have coached/trained them. Go on, name them now?

Here are a few:-

Jenny Dunbar
Julie Berry
Guy Harris
Anna Butterfield
Marian Kemmer
Helena Breck
Anthony Mendez
Janet Ault
Elisa Canas
Elinor Hamilton

Some names are known to you but most probably not because they're not SEO'd but they are QR ...Quite remarkable.

Here's your mission troops. Become QR and the SEO will take care of itself.

I'm not sure of the back story here, Philip, but for some reason, while reading this I feel the need to gain your approval......

BTW Janet Ault has a fabulous SEO company, too - so double whammy! Smile

Seeking approval from anyone is an occupational hazard Laugh
That's the second time I've said that today.

Here's da ting. When I was asked to find voices for this particular project a number of names dropped into my head except when it came to the US voices, then I struggled.

As there is nothing a VO is able to do about the casting criteria or geography (some of my voices of choice are west coast based so would still be in bed when I needed a yes or no) here are my key reasons for not getting in touch.

1 -Simply not good enough.
2 -Faffs about too much!
3 -Mic/studio/audio quality.
4 - Sounds too much like a VO.

Now you may allow the "occupational hazard" to work FOR you. Imagine that you meet the casting criteria so let's test the "no sorry mate" criteria. Number 1 is a bit of a difficult thing to address. In this particular case I'll give you some background. If you list your job as Voice Actor then in this production one of your fellow Voice Actors is a former member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. As for the rest of the above reasons, ask yourself some tough questions.

This post is not intended to upset anyone it's just a "pause for thought". A number of times people have asked "why am I not getting the job/jobs?" More often than not, no matter how diplomatic people try to be, items 1 to 4 come into play. If you believe you have a 1-4 problem, solve it, you have to, it's your job.

Now let's play the casting game. American Female VO, able to act, you'll hear the sparkle and the sense of fun in the read but if she's gives you the classic "this girl disapproves" look it'll burn her attitude deep into your soul. Are you able to name her? If you think it's you, step up to the plate.

For me, after taking the time to listen to all the demos of these VO artists - There's a reason Phillip named them, they're all bloody good! I 'get' what Phillip is saying and it's something to aspire to. I've booked marked all of these guys' sites.

As for the 1-4 list, I'm working on crossing ALL of them off! I'll also add that one should play to one's strengths, the more I do voiceovering, the more I understand what I can and can't do. The temptation to want to be a jack of all trades in this game is to easy, after all, all we have to do is open our mouths and speak, right?!
