This was Landis's first-ever tour stage, though he was in the lead, wearing yellow, until he fell off the back yesterday in the Alps. Today's stage was also in the Alps, and a brutal, punishing one. He called Wednesday's ride a disaster, and just now said in an interview "I'm tellin' ya man, I'm here to win the race. not just a stage."
