Looks good Jeff. We were talking of lights here recently--what's that copy light you have there? |

Thank you folks for your comments! Yesterday was a celebration!
Mike, I will post some sound files later today. I am looking forward to your feedback and suggestions!
Bill I can't find the name for the lamp. I got it at Home Depot a couple of years ago. The SKU is 847-284. It has a clamp, flex neck and LEDs...nice and cool. Not the brightest but it works well for me. I apologize for the poor pic quality my Blackberry provides.

Thanks Jeff---So can you provide us some construction details? Also, how did you do ventilation? |

Bill, I was looking at different options and was inspired by Bobbin Beam's blog.
http://blogs.voices.com/voxdaily/2007/07/bobbin_beam_do_it_yourself_ho.html
Thank you Bobbin Beam!!
So I contacted Justin for the 6'x6' plans.
http://www.dawbox.com/DAWBOOTH.htm
with a few slight modifications. It is double walled w/ MDF and insulated with the rigid pink foam. I used his plans for the ventilation system as well w/ flex duc and a couple of fans. I fried the rheostat that slows the fans down to quiet them and going to Home Depot to pick up a dimmer to try out a couple of other fans I purchased from the folks at Whisperroom...once I find where my wife hid my Home Depot card! |

Plugging all the "hoses" and stuff was a bit more challenging then I had hoped for. Still need some tweaking. The signal chain is a Sennheiser 416 - Avalon M5 - ProTools. Raw as sushi except for a few breath removals. Any thoughts and suggestions are most appreciated!!
edit: removed link...terrible
Thanks so much!!

After listening to the first file I decided to delete because it sounded terrible and I made some adjustments and i am posting another file. This is one I sent to Mr. CourVO yesterday for the NVOM. I asked Dave if it was ok to post and he gave me the nod but wanted me to mention that he is "working on the compilation and it comes later in the month, to sustain the energy of NVOM." I also want to mention that Lee Gordon did a fabulous job writing the script!
Not a request for a critique (wrong forum) ...although I welcome any and all feedback. I am concentrating on tuning these new digs up and any technical advice and recommendations would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
This is a dry read and raw with no compression, de-essing etc. Only removed a few breaths.
Thank you so much for your insight and feedback!!

The room sounds pretty much as I expected with the foam - Boxy.
Considering the M5's transparent sound, it tends to let the "room" come through in the mix; you're going to need more treatment.
If you listen to the file you will hear the hollow boxy sound of the plywood; it really comes front and center when you shout towards the middle off your file.
My first construction recommendation would have to been to cover the plywood with drywall, or to have used standard stud wall construction to build the booth. It would have given you better mass and the nature of the drywall would have acted as a bass trap.
Due to the rooms dimensions, the mode coincides (where low frequencies are the same or similar) are just to numerous to count. There are 1000 lines to get to 500Hz. Here is a sample to 200Hz:

What does this all mean?
You're going to need a considerable amount of rigid insulation treatment, to get you as a single sound source in this room, and to kill the module ringing.
This room resonates at Middle C C4. _________________ The Blog:
