Wow. My first post ever on the VO-BB and it has to be on this thread.

Ugh.

What I think is most sad is how the so-called 'talent' sees herself here: "Cheap". That's what she's selling: low-price.

We are as good, or as bad, as we think we are (to a great extent). Obviously if she called herself expensive and top-notch it wouldn't make it so, but why would someone WANT to gear their stuff towards the bottom of the barrel?

I've seen these types of hucksters all over the place, on Craig's list, ebay, and other places. I truly wonder how much money these folks make. I'd much rather do ONE truly outstanding professional piece that I'm proud of for $400 instead of 20 pieces of crap that I wouldn't want my name on for $20 each.

Welcome Scott - if you were in LA for VOICE you would have received your special dolphin. Check out my facebook page for the shot of Pam and Peter last night at Pink Taco to see their lovely matching dolphins...

After enduring some of "cheap voices" demos, my only conclusion... if I can't do better than that, I'll sell all my equipment tomorrow.

Bailey, sell tomorrow? I think I would use a big sledge hammer right now.

Oh, and you have nothing to worry about - keep your equipment.

After my reading all the comments, I thought must take a look at this site. It can't be that bad, can it?

Oh dear. How could ANYONE believe that was a good quality sound?

I spend an awful lot of time fretting about my recording space, niggling over the tiniest whistle, rustle or click. I remember spending hours once feverishly tracking down and eliminating a tiny hum.

After hearing THAT I feel much better! Laugh

This made my day......you guys are so skeptical!

(putting on my shamwow voice)

Want to be part of a growing and exciting new industry?
Why use a $1000 condensor mic when you can get the same results from a Skype headset that costs over $10....but wait there's more.....call now and we'll throw in another headset.......Forget Senheisser, Neumann, Blue...the SHAMPOP is all you need to produce voiceovers all your friends will love......phone messages...even prank calls....

haha, I love the on-hold messaging. Was she intentionally speaking like a robot? If so, I think she nailed it.

It almost sounded like she was chewing gum......or had maybe just finished a tall glass of Lemonade.

Yikes.

Wow, that was simply horrible. I had better sound quality when I was doing VO for my college radio station from my dorm bathroom. This person obviously spent a lot of time putting all of this stuff together. It's a shame it was such a waste.

From now on, when a potential client wants to low-ball, etc., I'll just send them this link. That way, they'll either find what they want ... or come to their senses.

"Cheap"?????

i couldn't make it through more than a few seconds of each video, but if the demos are an accurate sample, 20.00 is a bit steep, don'cha think?

besides...i know a fellow who'll do it for less down the street.

i know it's not right to heap on abuse. but when you see something go to such trouble to invite abuse, it's almost impolite not to RSVP.
