				| While waiting for my car to get fixed earlier today, I was jolted out of my book by this spot playing on the TV in the waiting area:
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBPAQ6CJvTo

Bonus points if you watched it all the way to the female VO who voices the tag.

				| Can't remeber the name of the MVO. He is a comedian who used to appear in comedy bits on Jay Leno. _________________

				| gilbert gottfried.
i thought the commercial was a joke for the first 45 seconds.

grating as the guy's voice is, he was still the perfect casting choice for the parrot, Iago, in Disney's "Aladdin".

				| As funny a casting choice Gilbert Gottfried may be to folks like us, I'm not so sure it was the best casting choice. The goal (of an ad campaign) is to hold an audience's attention, hoping they'll buy the product or service. And, it's a pretty good bet that many of the folks who could use that product would consider Gilbert's voice as soothing and reassuring as being run over by a lawn mower.
I don't know who the FVO was on the tag, but in this case, a complementary voice would've been that of Fran Drescher.

				| Thought the shoe horn on a stick was a good match for Gilbert...I too thought it was some sort of parody rather than a "real commercial", then again I thought the clapper and the walk in bath tub were jokes as well...as I get older, I begin to appreciate the inventions that can make my life easier. Now there is an a to help people remember where they parked at the mall...I may need one of those sooner than later. _________________

				| I have seen that spot on TV so I knew it was the real thing and not (just) a parody. The FVO is as ubiquitous as the "One Eight Tundred" guy. She seems to be on absolutely everything -- Snuggie, Topsy Turvy Tomato, those ugly glass globes that spare you the drudgery of watering your house plants, myriad other devices that eliminate the "back breaking work" of various household chores. _________________

				| I can stand Gilbert Gottfried's voice for about :10 before I have to mute him.....yeah...strange choice, but hey.....what does he, or the client for that matter care what we think? ...but yeah...very strange voice choice to get people to buy your product
And Lee...I have one of those globe things!

				| I don't have the globe thingies, but I do have a couple of Topsy Turvy Tomato things. Funny thing is, because of their design, the water constantly drips out the bottom and thus they need to be watered a lot. So, ironically, the woman who sells you one product because watering is a pain in the butt, sells you another product that requires constant watering. _________________

				| I am a big fan of Gilbert's. You have to see him live to see how funny and filty he is... but his whacky delivery is perfect for this spot. If people think it's a joke, I believe that enhances the spot's ability to sell this product. The female VO is in sharp contrast -- and not the typical direct response sound you normally here at the close of these sell-mercials.

				| For me the memorability only went so far. When I went to find the video later that day, I remembered Gilbert, and I remembered that it was a shoehorn on a stick, but the product name still hadn't sunk in deep enough, despite the number of times it was repeated, and despite the fact that I'd jotted the name into my phone with the specific intention of researching the video later on. Usually writing something down is a good way to cement it in my memory, but until I saw that note, all I could remember was "Shoe....something...." _________________

				| I don't know about the casting choice, but as a voice-over artist I'm going to buy one because I'm tired of bending over.
