Just joined the board and would enjoy a critique of my latest demo.
All comments appreciated! [http/www.garybegin.com] Look to the right of the website for the voice over site. My commercial and imaging demos
are there. Am turning the site to solely VOICE OVER site in the next few weeks.

Thanks in-advance for your help and guidance.

There is a specific critique section. You should as DB Cooper or a moderator move this post to that section. Welcome to this wonderful place for VO peeps to hang.

(Edited for typo)

Demo seemed fine to me. My only concern was that I heard the compression/processing first and you second.

Gary, you're on a good start here.

What I hearing is a lot of local in-house radio production spots.

You've got to lose the sell in your voice, and start using the tell. "Tell me a story."

There are too many character voices in this demo. The commercial demo should be your "signature voice."
Save the characters for your character demo. With that understanding, what you're commercial demo needs to
demonstrate -other than your voice- is your acting ability. Give us a sampler of emotions, feelings and
scenes. This will help you stand out and sparkle in the sea of garden-variety demos - of which, this is at the
moment.

Spot #4 there is a hum.
Spot #5, your enunciation and clarity is really bad. (Overall you could crisp and sharpen your enucleations
just a little -Tap those "T's".)
Need stronger material/scripts.
Many of the spots sound like they were recorded in the same room (echo).
Also the production sounds overly compressed, and a little muddy.

Try getting into some acting workshops and improve. A good VO coach like Marc Cashman, will break you
of your bad habits (he does phone coaching), also the likes of a Nancy Wolfson can help too.

Good try.

Acoustics are counter-intuitive. If one thing is certain about acoustics, it is that if anything seems obvious it is probably wrong.
