New Auralex came in today. One of the best investments I have EVER made. Pickies below...
But first, my in-studio guest. She likes to watch Daddy work!

Now the upgrades...

Chris,

How precious! (The foam looks nice, too.)

What a cute little girl you have. They say it's best to start them young. You'll have to see how much she absorbs about voicing. I started bringing my daughter with me to my singing lessons when she was a couple weeks old. I'd put her chair on top of the baby grand. She has perfect pitch and a nice voice.

The studio looks great too. What material are the curtains made from?

Thanks Chrissy (and everyone... Sarah says "Glabapple"... which I think means "thankyou" or "I know I'm adorable")! The curtains are light/sound dampening curtains. Couldn't tell you what they're made of, but they're available at your local wallymart.

I love those baby carriers! (Forget the brand name) I wish my kid still fit in ours sometimes.

Good looking studio.

Chrissy,

Last time I was at our local Bed, Bath, and Beyond they had some curtains on clearance that claim to reduce sound. They didn't have any specs to back that up so I don't know how effective they really are but you might want to look into them. I don't recall the exact length but the ones that would fit my window down to the floor were about $60 a panel and I would have needed two.

Brian,

Snugli, as I recall. It's been quite a few years since my youngest (now 12) fit into his.

Auralex - gotta love it - affordable and attractive. Mine's purple.
What method did you use to mount yours to the wall?

Ahem - http://www.hartvoiceovers.com/blog/2010/03/03/5-ways-hang-acoustic-foam/

shameless self plug

EDIT: Curtain update. Lowe's has Eclipse brand curtains that claim to reduce noise for $25 to $28 a panel (52x84 I think) and liners that they claim will reduce noise further for $25 for two panels. Boy I wish there was some sort of documentation on that stuff.
