I know we've beat this dead horse a few times here, but celebrities are now creeping into radio imaging. I've heard plenty of celebs doing station IDs and such, but this is the first instance I've ever heard of an "A-Lister" doing radio imaging.

I took a day trip last week through a few states on an important errand, and around in south AL/MS I picked up Fm 94.1 -- an old "soft rock" station I used to listen to in the 90s when I lived in Pensacola. But what caught my ear was that George Clooney was the radio image voice. I haven't confirmed it through the station yet, but I've developed a skill over the years for ID'ing voices and I'm about 99% sure it's Clooney. He wasn't just doing the typical, "Hi, this is __enter celeb name here__ and you're listening to..." station ID.

Although Clooney never spoke his name, it was clearly his voice and it was full-fledged radio imaging. They were playing few different IDs with him about every 20 minutes, and one of them even mentioned the station's sponsors.

Has anyone else noticed the celeb VO trend creeping into your radio region too?

Bet you're wrong that it's Clooney. Call the station and ask them.
I'll be it's someone who sounds like him.

If you're going to blog on this business, how about a little investigative reporting. Maybe some confirmation before you write the headline.

If you are right, you'll have a pretty cool story.

Just don't get him started on Julia Roberts appearing at children's parties in and around Weiser Idaho for $60 as Pongo the Clown.

Don't get me started on Julia Roberts as Pongo the Clown. I was on hold for that gig and she low balled my bid.

Craig, no matter who is doing station imaging, it's our job to be "awesome". They hire us because of that.

You've heard how well some "celebs" do what we do— remember the open for Brian Williams.

We have to keep on being excellent.

Actually, they let him appear in a movie for which I did the traylor. Had I known I may have asked for another 5 bob AND tram fare back to my theatrical digs.

I doubt it was George Clooney. If his agent got him such a gig, then he needs a new agent.

No radio entity would pay what it would take to make it worth Clooney's time and effort, IMO.

Plus such a gig would do zilch for his career. I'm betting Clooney sound-a-like.

I emailed the radio station but haven't received a reply yet.

And next time, maybe you could avoid the snark since this was a simple forum post asking a simple question: if anyone had heard celebs doing radio imaging in their area. It has nothing to do with a blog, and frankly your comment is condescending and unnecessarily critical.
