Chris, I agree that your not pestering anyone. After all you've invested time and money in your booth so you might as well make it the best it can be. I wish you were in my neighborhood, I'd invite you over to put all of your new found knowledge into use helping me with my sound proofing.

I did a couple clap tests in the booth today and could hear a short high-pitched ringing that seems to be coming from the metal clip-on lamp. Removed it and all was quiet. Could that explain the ringing at 2K? And if that's it is it cause for concern?

That could be the source of the 2k anomaly.

I ran another measurement without the clip-on lamp and the ringing at 2K is gone! How does the rest of the chart look? Will find another light that doesn't resonate as much.

I think you need to stop and listen to audio that is coming out of your
booth, instead of worrying about what charts look like. You're booth
sounds fine.

And over all, the chart is fine too, it actually looks good, considering you have
such a small booth.

Let's look at the chart together.

Everything from 200Hz to 20kHz is dead above 100 ms.

From about 80Hz to 200Hz your dead above 500 ms

So, if you use a 80Hz roll off filter or a 75Hz Hipass filter you're golden,
because all those peaks below 75Hz are eliminated. And because there are
no "coincidences" from the lower frequencies affecting the the higher frequencies.

Now to go into your waterfall chart a little more, you'll see a peak at about
30Hz, with a revration time extends beyond the chart, but we are not
worried because this gets cut off with a filter. There is also another small
peak at about at 60Hz and another one at 90Hz, this could be a
"coincidence" from the 30Hz peak; 30 + 30 = 60 +30 = 90. But the
absorption is taking care of the 60Hz and the 90Hz peaks quite well
because they are eliminated at about 500ms. This is to be expected
because absorption starts having a hard time controlling bass below 200Hz
without the help of other devices or techniques.

Bottom line, you are fine.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for all your help and analysis throughout this! I'm more confident with the sound now. I bought a new lamp and don't hear any ringing...and taped a piece of foam over it just in case.
