Thanks, for taking the time to reply, Philip ... appreciated ....

I've used the EA M600 (but not on a 416 or in a VO situation) ... I was certainly impressed, with its isolation performance - but the price is quiet hefty ... If I can find a spider type mount that will fit the 416 firmly, I'm pretty sure that will give me the isolation I'm looking for ...

Cheers ... CD

I actually use the shockmount for my RE20— I have a cardboard shim for the 416 so it fits snugly.

Nice "lateral thinking", Dierdre .... unfortunately, my dynamic is an SM7B, so I don't have an RE20 suspension to hand - but I can see how the RE20 mount would be ideal with some padding ...

I think an RE20 type suspension is what I really had in mind - but never thought of adapting one ... may well be the answer ...

Thanks for the suggestion .... CD

The shock mount I use with my 416 came from Guitar Center (they have a generic shotgun shock mount) and was about $25.

Wait, hold on! Are my eyes confusing me, Philip? Isn't that a picture of a 416 in that 600 mount? I thought you were a member of the 416 Haters Club ---or maybe club president?

It is! Arrived on a Saturday. Tried it on a Sunday. Sold it on a Monday.

Sounded like a pile o' shite which is no coincidence because we all know that it is Laugh

Of course we do, or maybe don't, depending. I did, now I don't. But I must say Pile o' Shite sounds so much nicer than how we say it here in the colonies.

Said with a Southern Irish accent gives it an edge!

Buying a used 416 is like buying a used cupcake.

You probably shouldn't do it...unless you know the person and their reputation and can return it. I have heard samples from people that bought used 416 mics and I can understand why some use the "pile o' shite" reference.

If used in the field, those mics can get beat up pretty good.
