Shirley you jest, Jeff. And, I must say, it went off without a hitch.

This is FAR from boring.

If I had a virtual spitball machine, I'd start shooting 'em... just like I did in skool. There was a girl named Shirley I used to shot 'em at...

Hey Todd, in all seriousness, we'd love to have you back contributing in a positive manner. But you have to admit, popping in here simply to advertise your blog rant about a conference that you KNEW several members helped organize is the definition of an internet troll.

I checked with DB before I posted, to get her approval. She suggested I post the link, based on her review of my composition. Do YOU check with her before you post something?

I didn't think so.

Quote:
Not to mention to douchey-ness of it.

I was correct in my assumption that this is......High School. Please....mind your manners and your language - we're supposed to be adults here......? Anyone?

I would LOVE to contribute in a positive manner; however, it seems that the truth doesn't work (nor does anyone wish to acknowledge, much less address it) and beyond that......personally, I don't have any other options.

So...all of you. Please...I implore you. How about thinking of somebody else instead of yourselves for a change? The only agenda I have here is to inform. Nothing more. Accept that. I'm not looking for fame, notoriety, money....nor "trolling for a "fight" (the poorest choice of a rebuttal I've ever heard......well.......ever).

Instead of dissing someone's writing, or getting angry or just downright juvenile about the premise of an article (this goes for anyone's writing),.......consider that it might be the truth....and then decide how you're going to respond....anywhere, to anyone. For the record, I'm not trying to start a fight, or "dump" on your forum....or otherwise cause disruption. I like to write....and I wish to share that writing. If I am guilty of that - so be it.

Like recording in a session or acting on the stage......I'm the kind of guy who chooses to take a risk. I don't mind that people get upset......everyone should have their say......that's how we grow and learn. But, when it degrades to the level this thread has gone to........well.......nobody learns anything and we end up with......nothing. Nothing. Like the people who have spent boatloads on conferences just like this, only to come home with an empty wallet, empty promises....and no money left to fufill said promises.

I hear from them everyday.....150 e-mails strong a month. Just normal folks looking for the truth; indeed, looking to make some sense of an industry that makes no sense at all. That's why I post it on my site; so I don't have to write so many e-mails.

Gimme a freakin' break.

DB....maybe consider canning the whole thread and start over.....? I don't really know what to do with this mess at this time.

Todd, I really want to give you a break here, I really do. But you really started off on the wrong foot. While you may not have tried to be a troll (someone who posts controversial or inflammatory statements with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional or disciplinary response), that's exactly what your post here smacks of.

You slam us for being immature. How many times did you "accidentally" call the organizers "Jim and Tammy Faye" in your blog? I'll take played out cliches from the 1990s for $200, Alex.

Be honest. You didn't come here to inform. You came here to persuade. And when we didn't take the bait, you got all upset.

So relax, Todd. Join the party. Have some fun with us. Don't take yourself so seriously, because I guarantee you, no one else is.

Ditto what Kafer said. Exactly. We never hear from you unless it's to "inform" of us the sacks o' cash the VOICE folks make, so on an so forth.

Also, I think Deebs asked for "civil" at some point in the thread, early on, but, really, I hardly thought the start of the thread, which is your blog, was civil, specifically the "Jim and Tammy Faye" reference, among other points.

Had you written your blog with different tone, it might be more convincing.

Thus, the jack.

However, I don't want to get into a peeing match over this topic. It's old and tired. Come talk to us about something else. Like Shirley, or Kara's Aunt Suk.

Nah...I put too much thought into my posts today. And alot of people smiled for a Monday. It was a nice diversion. And it's good to see people smile and laugh. And it was free of charge.

But I said this off the boards and I will say it here. I read your article. I liked what you wrote and agree with alot of it. It reminded me of old school journalism in the sense that it showed another side to it. Not blogging but when there were newspapers.
I stayed away from my response earlier because I saw what would have been a pissing match coming on. I've seen that on other boards and that's why I come here. Besides, June is far away.
No matter what you write, people are going to go for various reasons and people are going to stay away for various reasons. That's their call.

My Irish mother had a saying when we were kids. It had to do with dinner.
She'd say "If you don't like it, turn your ass to it". ( I wasn't a fan of peas) It's even better when said with an Irish brogue.
You can apply that expression to the conference, the article or this thread or threadjack.
God bless Caryn Clark for her request of a thread jack. Nobody got hurt and yet we even saw some hot 'Pintos. I'm rooting for me and Dina.
Remember, we're supposed to be actors and creative types. This threadjack was a great excercise. And if you don't like it.....

I loves me some DB. Shirley I do. Get Lost

Sorry, but I wanted in on this thread before its one-way trip to Kingdom Come (which I hear is a nice place to visit but I shirley wouldn't want to live there).

OK... now play nice.

All right— lookie here.

First and formost, we all understand that anyone may say anything they like on their own blog.
In any way they choose, and that includes calling names.

Now, sharing ideas from disparate sources is part of what this board is for. We may not each agree with what others write or how they write it, but if we're going to discuss it here, there are rules to follow.

I demand some semblance of decorum.

This thread shows an interesting bit of the way this message board polices itself.
If folks don't like the way things are done here, then I apologize— it's all my fault. But I am the boss and I get the last word.
