Hey Bill....
Quote: | Some people enjoy business conferences for the social aspects as much as anything. If people choose to spend their money on VOICE, that's their choice. What gives you the right to tell them it's wrong? |
I was waiting for someone to bring up that subject; I knew it was just a matter of time.
Often, when confronted with the truth, people tend to look for ways to ignore it in lieu of simply accepting it. They place blame on others, lash out in anger......anything but accept the fact that what may be said or written is, in fact, merely the truth.
To respond to you directly, what gives you the right, Bill, to conclude that I'm telling people it's wrong to attend? Where in my article does it say this?
I'm merely pointing out that it looks like a lot of money was made in 2008, and they're asking for more money, without providing fundamental details regarding their program.
Please.....tell me. Where did I say in this article it was wrong to attend VOICE2010? Please point me to that section of the article and I'll be sure to correct it right away.
Thanks!

Good, I didn't miss that part. I'll say it ......... with a but. If as a Voice Over you are planning on attending VOICE2010 and need to see a financial return as it is an investment in the growth of your business then I would strongly suggest that you do not attend as the money spent on this event could be better spent elsewhere. The decision made must be purely business and that means either walking away from the event with something that WILL make you money, has made you money or created savings in your business that outweigh the cost of the event.
If you like spending time with other Voice Overists both young and old, newbies and experienced, enjoy hearing guest speakers and doing little networking and some socialising, meeting up with old friends making some new ones and can afford to cover the cost of attending VOICE2010 without looking for a return on your investment before the Bank Manager finds out what you've done ...Do it, be there, you'll have a fabby time.
I am SO not going because most of the people attending I believe are a bunch of Schicks! Mmmmm that was Freudian. |

This is what this event was supposed to be. A little different but this was the idea. The thought was a CES type of thing for VO people. How it turned into what it is, is beyond my comprehension. Sad but true. |

Did you see the picture of the birthday bag my husband got from our neighbors? It says Happy BITHday instead of Happy Birthday...isn't that funny?

Hey Banksey,
What's that thing growing out of the side of Jazz' head? You should have it looked at.

Todd Ellis, you know, there's a great sale going on at the Brooks Brothers Outlet. You might want to check it out. Although, I bought some pants there for DH yesterday and alas, he says they stated the wrong size on the tag. It says 36, but he swears they're 32s. So, beware of the store lying about the sizes on their tags. Anyone else ever find that to be an issue?
That bag is a riot, Kara!!!! It belongs in the Land of Misfit stuff, which is next to the Land of Misfit Toys. Guess that's one you won't keep, huh... no use in reusing that bag!! LOL. I wonder if the dude/dudette who typeset and designed that bag lost his job? That would be a bummer.
And, Paddyo, I agree... Jazz really should have that looked at by a physician.
I'm off to the bank to deposit my sacks of cash now. Back for more threadjack fun later. Bye.
edited to add: dang, I just saw the other posts. Two votes for Philip here... b/c he's witty, and he's sweet. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

very interesting story about that ... years ago i spoke with a taylor at brooks brothers. he was approximately 231 years old and whilst measuring my inseam told me to beware the BB outlet stores. they use, he says, a lower grade silk in the linings, and while the fabric is the same as the "store suits" they are assembled (sotto voce) "over seas".
ok, so it wasn't interesting at all ... it WAS a story, though. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis
