voicing, or reminding news people that no one beyond the 100 mile grade B signal radius couldn't care less who they are...I build furniture and repair antiques.
The owner of this chair plopped down in it and the chair broke in pieces. My job was to turn new spindles and put it all back together. I kinda think I did okay...

Wow. Nice work man.
I fancy myself a woodworker as well, but I'm nowhere near your level. That's awesome.

Holy lathe, Batman-- that is some fine craftsmanship.
Did the rocker break as well? One of my handymen told me that glued wood is stronger than the original grain. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Thanks. Fotunately, the rocker didn't break; but as an added value I tightend all the joints to take out the wobble. The narrower cross spindle was the most difficult to turn, being that it's total circumference is just over an inch and a quarter. The one pictured was my fourth turning. The three previous spindles snapped on the lathe. Oak is difficult to turn as it's among the hardest of the hardwoods and it splinters easily. And of course, it's an oak rocker.
You're most correct, DB. Glued wood is stronger than the wood itself. Rarely does it snap at a glued joint. _________________ www.voiceoverdrew.com

That's a great looking rocking chair. Kudos to you for being able to fix it and match the pieces so expertly. _________________ Elaine
