Interesting article about Proctor & Gamble - who still spends almost a billion $$ on advertising - limiting the number of production companies they use. When almost every third shop in town has some kind of P&G project on their books, yeah, that's a big deal.

We all need to stand firm on rates, Mates.

I can see their point though. I've seen and heard plenty of evidence that agencies and production houses will often spend big clients' money like drunken sailors. "Hey they've got the bucks...they won't miss it." It's more about food and frills, and hotels and travel for unneeded extra agency staff than it is for rank and file pay rates.

I understand the need to get a grip on costs— who is in charge of oversight like that?

If P&G is sick of wasting money, I'm all for it. I just don't want some agency trying to squeeze talent since the lack of riotous living is making "everyone tighten their belts".

While one door closes for the Big Ad Houses, opportunity opens for others.

Creative is one thing selling soap is a different issue.

P&G and others have been using a core vendor method for some time for buying raw materials. Now they are taking it a bit further.

My daughter works for a large vendor that supplies to P&G. They work hard to get on and stay on the core vendor list. In their business they are the largest vendor of their kind in the world. Still core list rules for now.

I see opportunity
