Okay, here are some sound files for comparison...

Probably not completely scientific, but I made sure that all relevant factors (placement, distance from mic, volume level) were kept consistent.

I tended to ramble a little when recording, so just for clarification, the first file in each sample is without the mount, the following file with the M600

(PS-the links were runnning really slow when I tried them, so be patient!)

Definitely sounds better with the M600 audio mount.

I am hearing some electric buzz with the RE20 though.

Yeah, I can hear what you're talking about when I listen through my headphones.

Maybe because the RE 20 requires so much gain?

BTW here is the GEfell M930 comparison with the M600:

Anyone have any thoughts on how to minimize or eliminate this? It's running through an Apogee Duet at about 70 db......I can lower the gain but then have to amplify it later, and get more background white noise....(although I can only hear the electric buzz through my headphones, not on my monitors)

70db...yikes. That's why I don't own a RE20 or an SM7b (although I sound good on them). I've got a Sennheiser e935 when I need to be whispery or booming I can run it at 53-55db gain even for normal narration.

I could run the Heil PR40 at 53-55 as well, but man is that a horrible vocal mic. Sold it after six months. Thought I loved it...(where have I heard that before).

Driving home I heard a song by The Killers where from the album Sam's Town where they used PR40s...all the vocals on that album sound like they're through megaphones.
