Kara,
I have both Pro Tools and Sound Forge running on my workstation. I just can't have them both running at the same time. _________________ Be well,

Yes, PT can co-exist with other audio a s, they just can't share the Mbox at the same time. If you are doing some multitrack work, check out Soundbooth. It is less complex than Audition but has some really powerful features, and it is easy to use because it is designed for video/film makers, not recording engineers. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

Kara - I too am running Pro Tools on an HP 5750 system with XP Pro and I have not had any issues thus far. I was running 7.3 but have since upgraded to 8.0 and I really like PT 8.0. Like Bob, I run Sound Forge as well on my XP system and I can not run both SF and PT at the same time.
Also, I am running PT 8 on my MacBook Pro where I do run into an issue from time to time. I have an Intel based MacBook Pro that is one rev back from the current one out there and it crashes with the Grey Screen of death once in a while if I have my Mbox Mini plugged in and launch something like Quick time or another audio a other than PT. I have contacted DigiDesign and they said there is no fix and I just have to be conscientious of what a s I run with the Mbox connected. Its a real pain. I do 98% of my recording on my XP system now. |

It's no secret that Digidesign is no longer Apple friendly, like the good old days before Apple bought Logic and launched Final Cut. Seems anymore that Avid and Pro Tools supports Windows machines BETTER than Mac. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.
