After five days and many calls and independent testing on my part, my ISDN line has been restored.
I believe in networking the personal kind that is. The Local Central Office Manager is kin of kin, I know the technicians personally and the former manager of the Telco Central Exchange is married to my wife’s cousin.
Could you imagine the wait other wise.
As a Naval Trained (I’m Proud of that) electronics technician and broadcast studio engineer I know problems can be hard to pin point.
The problem. Are you ready. A bad splice at their remote pedestal.
Thank goodness I know people at the Telco. It’s going to cost at least a case of beer.
The moral, make sure to know the local techinicans, get on their good side, and get the list of secret telephone numbers (Sarah gave them to me yesterday) Bob S. I'll send them to you later. _________________ Esse quam videri "To be rather than to seem"

It is amazing what can mess things up!
I loves my TelCo local techs. We became great pals with the line tech for my town when my ISDN when flooey last year. When he said that tracing down trouble in a circuit like this was an exercise of reductio ad absurdum we knew we were in the presence of a kindred spirit. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Ed,
For whatever tiny contribution I made to your efforts, you are very welcome. I'm so glad your problem is resolved. _________________ Be well,

Thanks Bob.
The call to you was to confirm that MCI was your Long Distance carrier.
Kara had some trouble with MCI earlier this month. Because of her problem I talked with an MCI Customer Service person in Manila regarding ISDN LD. She said emphatically that MCI did not provide long distance lines provisioned for ISDN.
This outage has been a real SNAFU. They (Telco) had me with AT&T LD after I told them months ago to switch to MCI. MCI said they didn’t provide ISDN LD. Both AT&T and MCI were billing me for LD. Brent (my news buddy and network technician) had Telco switch me over to MCI. So fare it is working. A line card was deemed bad.
I got so frustrated with this that I have bought my own ISDN test set. Than way the next time it goes out and it will, I can talk to the network tech in terms that apply to ISDN.
It amazing what a person can learn with the right motivation. _________________ Esse quam videri "To be rather than to seem"
